  • All Ages Fun Day Zoo Competition

    Tell us in 75 words or less why intergenerational connections are good for wellbeing?

    Submit your entry to be in the draw to receive one free Seniors Concession Zoo entry ticket to our All Ages Fun Day at the Zoo on Sunday 24th of September from 9:30am-3:30pm.

    Competition only open to Seniors Card holders. Entrants must show their Seniors Card on the day to receive their ticket. Only 100 tickets available so get in quick!

    Competition closes on Saturday 23rd of September

    Hosted by the City of Salisbury, we invite you to join us for a FREE Heart Foundation Walking volunteer led 30 or 60 or 90 minute walk along the beautiful Dry Creek Trail.

    SALISBURY

    This FREE family event will showcase the many different cultures that call... Salisbury home. There will be two entertainment areas featuring cultural performances, as well as food vendors, market stalls and children’s activities such as a rock climbing wall, bouncy castle, face painting and balloon animals.

  • 26/09/17 & 29/09/17Come and Try Table Tennis

    Southern Table Tennis at Sports Park Drive, Wilfred Taylor Reserve, Morphett Vale invites members of the public to join the existing 40+ social players on either Tuesday morning (26/9- 9am to noon) or Friday morning (29/9 - 9am to noon) during Active Ageing Week for a FREE hit of table tennis, a cup of tea / coffee and biscuit.

    Just come along wearing rubber soled shoes, a bat will be provided. Southern Table Tennis is supportive of the aims of Active Ageing with some of its participants having joined the social group from the 5 for 10 program.

    MODBURY

    Come and enjoy a 45 minute class. With no music just great ideas to keep you moving. Our classes are for all ages and abilities.

    Got a injury that is niggling at you? Let us know when you turn up. Not "fit" enough for classes? Give it a go anyway. Wouldn't be seen dead in swimwear? Wear shorts or leggings and a t shirt. What we are saying is, none of the above matters. Like they say "use it or lose it".

    Our classes are social and friendly, held in our 32* heated indoor pool and an added bonus is we all know exercise in water can ease pain caused by arthritis, help strengthen joints, help you keep and gain flexibility.

    Classes are held weekly, so give it a go, you may turn back time and become a water baby. No need to book- just turn up and enjoy!

    Casual visit only $10.80

    Come and try Green Gym in the Adelaide City Park Lands!

    Wed 27 September, 9:30am - 12:30pm or 1:30 - 4:30pm

    Thurs 28 September, 9:30am - 12:30pm or 1:30 - 4:30pm

    Green Gym is a fun and free program for anyone aged between 50 and 80, and is designed to suit varying fitness levels, abilities and experience. Join us in Wirraninthi (Park 23) for to help restore this beautiful green space, while enjoying the fresh air and company of like-minded people.

    An experienced Team Leader will guide you through practical activities to be undertaken at your own pace, with plenty of time to appreciate the natural environment around you.

    A city pick-up and drop-off is available for each session. Registrations can be made online or by contacting the Adelaide Office.

    For Active Ageing Week, Fitness on the Park is holding a WALK around the beautiful Adelaide parklands on Wednesday 27th September, 2017. Meet at Fitness on the Park, 64 Mackinnon Parade, North Adelaide at 9.45 am for a 10 am start. The walk will be approximately one hour with morning tea to follow. Everyone welcome.

    Active ageing week event: Tai Chi for over 50s Active ageing week runs from the 24th and 30th September and promotes the message of older people staying activing and engaged. As part of Active Ageing Week, Council is holding a free Tai Chi session followed by morning tea. Find the yin to your yang with this gentle and graceful form of exercise.     Come along to Bindarra Reserve at Brighton Beach, 11am Sunday October 1st, We'll enjoy doing a casual and uplifting aerobic routine! To prepare for the moves before hand, register for the free online event, where each day one of the moves will be posted. No matter where you are, you'll be able to learn the routine! If you're unable to make it to Brighton on the Sunday, you can still enjoy and have fun with the online part of the event. Let your friends know and they can do it too. Kay MacKenzie and few of the others in the Active Ageing Australia team will be there too, so get ready to have a really active and enjoyable morning.
