Post by Justin Ifould, Community Development Officer - Ageing communities, Community Connections Team, City of Onkaparinga.
From 22-25 January 2018 Active Ageing Australia’s highly qualified facilitators expertly delivered the NoFalls Leader, Home Exercise Lifestyle Program (HELP), Fresh Moves 1 & 2 and Easy Moves for Active Ageing (EMAA®) training courses at Seaford Recreation Centre as part of council’s Active Ageing Onkaparinga Program.
It was a resounding success with over 15 people from varying backgrounds attending each session, including aged care service provider representatives, fitness leaders, allied health professionals, volunteers and community members taking part. Feedback from the sessions has been very positive and we are now hoping that many of those completing the training can pursue their aspirations in establishing new program(s) in the Seaford area or through their organisation or venue.
The City of Onkaparinga has highly valued the close working relationship we’ve had with Active Ageing Australia in more recent years in delivering these courses and are proud to be the first local government authority to be a Platinum Member. We look forward to working with them again in the very near future.
